Acupressure
Acupressure is similar to acupuncture but instead of needles, hands are used to apply gentle pressures and stretches. All animals (including humans) have” Meridian lines” These are pathways along which energy flows throughout the body.
Any damage to these lines can lead to the energy becoming weak and this can then lead to health problems such as muscle deterioration, stiffness and lameness. Damages meridian lines and weak energy can also lead to anxiety stress and behaviour problems. Shiatsu can help by recognising these problems early and treating the energy flow before it becomes worse.
Skeletal-muscular problems can be alleviated and suppleness can be returned to the animal. The immune system is stimulated and improved as is the circulatory and nervous systems. Fitness can be increased and the susceptibility to further injury can be reduced. Endomorphins (the body’s own pain killers) are released which can help alleviate behaviour problems and reduce stress. The animal receives “feel good” emotions and relaxes and energizes.
I have taken a foundation level course in acupressure and will be taking 2 further levels next year. It is a very interesting subject and i am looking forward to finding out more about it. Gabriel loves it and he goes in to such a deep sleep when I treat him that it makes me laugh. He gets just so very relaxed. Watch this space for details of when I will be holding sessions.
Acupressure sessions can last from 15 – 45 minutes. I carry out the sessions from my studio but home visits can be arranged. For more information please phone or contact me by clicking here: Contact me.
