This is a page dedicated to all our friends past and present:
EllieAKA Stinky
Ellie was born sometime in 2003 but we are not sure when. She is a rescue dog and is one of the happiest dogs around. She is a collie cross who lives with my sister Alex and her house mate Jen.
She loves tennis balls and swimming in the sea. Her favourite trick is to drop a tennis ball from the top of the stairs and watch it bounce to the bottom. She also goes hunting for tennis balls at the local park (especially when people are playing matches with them)
Ellie is always smiling and loves to sleep on Alex’s pillow at bed time
Rufus
AKA Doofey
Rufus is a rescue dog and was rescued by Alex and me in 2005; he lived with me for a while but has since gone to live with Alex and Jen.
He was born around 2004 and is a bob tailed collie. He was born without a tail and tends to wag his whole bottom when he is happy. Rufus loves to destroy squeaky toys and holds the current world record for destroying them, at 1.3 seconds per toy. He is a moody little thing but loves long walks and Ellie, he is not over keen on Gabby but Venus loves to kiss him all over.
Rufus hates water and people laughing at his baggy pants.
Biscuit
Kennel Club Name: Bouncing Biscuit
Born: 2/11/2000 At Seldom Seen Farm, Six Hills, Leicestershire Breed: Cross Breed - Dad a strapping big rottie, mum a chocolate 90% Labrador just a tiny bit of something else mixed in. We went to look at Biscuit when she was ten days old, all her brothers and sisters where black and tan, we fell in love with the wriggling little liver coloured girl.
She came home with us on December the 23rd 2000 and from day 1 she was lively and mischievous. The carpets, settee, phone wires, doors, table and any of my daughters cuddly toys she could sneak out, all got the biscuit treatment. Yantan became her dad; he looked after her and loved spending time with her. Where ever he went, Biscuit would follow. We went to obedience classes which is where I met Kate. Biscuit loved the classes and passed her bronze and silver good citizen award. She loved having something to do and we had a great partnership together. She even got on with our cat Hamish.
At 12 months old we found agility and at last Biscuit had found something that would channel all her energy. To say Biscuit adores agility is an understatement, her registered name sums her up completely, She has won out of elementary and gets regular top 10 placings in starters, but has not yet managed the first place to win out. She also competes at novice level again getting placed in the top 25. We have tremendous fun and I will be forever in her debt for her introducing me to the fantastic sport of dog agility.
Crumble
Kennel Club Name: Crazy Crumble
Born: 13/8/2002 farm at Woodhouse Eves, Leicestershire Breed: cross breed - mum was a black retriever cross and dad was a secret one-night stand, and her mum never let on who he was!!
Biscuit was so attached to Yantan that when he started to get old I was worried that she would get very upset when he left so after much thought we decided to get another girl. I heard about the possibility of a litter from a friend of mine at the agility club. As it happened, we lost Yantan on the 15th August and the litter was born on the 13th August. It seemed like fate, so we went to go and have a look at the litter.
We went to look at Crumble when she was 12 days old, again just like Biscuit her brothers and sisters were black and white, so we just had to have this brown little girl. We brought her home on October 3rd 2002, when we got her home Crumble just sat at the back door and cried her heart out (we felt sooooooooo sorry for her). Crumble was frightened of everything and it took a lot of time and patience to even get her to play with toys, but she has grown into a confident, happy, lively little girl.
Biscuit and Crumble got on really well, Biscuit was happy to have a pal again and they had lots of fun together. Crumble went to obedience but she found it stressful being inside the village hall. We persevered and she passed her basic awards, she was very quick to learn but we felt that she would prefer something a bit more energetic and outside as a hobby. Crumble also loves her agility. She is very fast and nimble, but her speed and slightly lunatic approach has made training her quite a challenge. My daughter Georgina(who runs and trains her) has had to cope with the barking, the biting and the running off round the ring. Last year (2006) all the hard work is starting to pay off, with extra training from Karen Smith the clear rounds have started to come. To our delight she won starters jumping at the North Derbyshire show on Sunday 30th July, which now means that she will now compete at novice and intermediate, we have got a lot of work still to do on her contacts but with consistent training we will get there in the end.
Apple
Kennel Club Name: Adventurous Apple
Born: 1/12/2004 at a farm somewhere in Nottinghamshire Breed: Working Sheepdog. As far as we know both her mum and dad were working farm dogs
Apple came into our lives at 10 ½ weeks old. I had been thinking of getting another dog when I got a phone call, from my sister’s friend, Amber, asking if I would be interested in a black and white collie bitch. Sunday 13 Feb. 2005 saw my daughter and myself going round just to “look” at this little girl. We were told that Apple along with a litter sister had been brought, at 7 weeks old, from a farm in Nottinghamshire by a couple who had not had dogs before. Disaster with a capital D. After two weeks the couple had managed to rehome Apple's sister and persuaded Amber’s husband (he is a work colleague with said couple, and a real softy) to take Apple home with him. Amber already had her hands full with a young family and two dogs, one of which had major problems having been rescued. So she set out to try and find this lovely little collie a good home. When we left Ambers house that Sunday it was complete with a wriggling collie pup in my arms and I am so glad we have got her.
Biscuit thought that Apple was one cute little puppy and Crumble thought “what on earth have you brought home?”. but the relationship between Crumble and Apple has gone from strength to strength and they are now best buddys. Apple is a typical collie, just busy, busy, busy. She is full of mischief and my poor settee looks very worse for wear. Apple is very loving and likes nothing more than to sit on top of you for a fuss that is when she is not playing with her squeaky ball! She is eager and quick to learn, but is sensitive to moods and voice. Whenever you train it must always be happy with a squeaky voice (I'm sure neighbours think I am mad) and the way she responds is amazing. Her agility training is coming on really well and she loves coming to the shows with us, all being well she will start competing this year (2007).
Toby
Toby was my dad’s dog when I was growing up. He died back in 1990 and was greatly missed. He was a white and black Labrador sized dog.
He was rescued when he was young and my sister and I spent lots of time with him when we were growing up. He was probably our first contact with a big dog.
He loved going to the beach and long walks in the evening.
